11 Fathers & Sons Who Won The Same Wrestling Titles

1. Dusty Rhodes And Dustin Runnels - United States Championship

The list ends with none other than the American Dream, Dusty Rhodes. The Son of a Plumber was as popular as babyfaces could come back in the day, winning a whole host of championships across the United States. Included in these titles is a single run with the United States Championship, which Dream captured by defeating Lex Luger inside a steel cage in 1987. Interestingly enough Dusty never won gold in the World Wrestling Federation.

Most WWE fans may know his son Dustin better as Goldust, but before donning the gold and black paint and making his fellow competitors uncomfortable all too frequently Dustin was a two-time US Champion himself.

His two runs actually came one after the other, the first coming after defeating Ricky Steamboat in a #1 Contender's match only for Rick Rude to vacate the title. The title would be vacated soon after when Dustin and Rude fought to a double-pin. Dustin would subsequently defeat Rude in a rematch a couple of months later.

Cody Rhodes is yet to win the United States Championship, but it isn't outside the realm of possibility that he will eventually add his name to this list. With more and more second generation wrestlers coming through, this list will only grow and grow and grow. Will Bray Wyatt or Bo Dallas capture tag team gold like Father Mike? How about Shane McMahon winning the WWE Championship like Papa Vince did in 1999.

Actually, forget that last one.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
