Clash of the Champions XXVI opened with none other than 'Mean' Gene Okerlund hyping the crowd before completely changing mood upon receiving some bad news. The news? Well, it was worse than that time his mother-in-law moved in last summer. Okerlund always was a charmer.

The news was that none other than Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan had signed with World Championship Wrestling. The WCW talent drive was in full-flow at this point, and a few months later Hulk Hogan would join 'The Brain' and his good friend 'Mean' Gene.

Heenan was signed to replace Jesse 'The Body' Ventura, and would go on to work for WCW until 2000. His relationship with the company would deteriorate throughout those years, but at this point everything seemed fairly rosy and fans were excited the arrival of the sharp-witted Weasel.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
