11 Head-Scratchingly Long WWE Royal Rumble Performances

3. Mo - 22:46 (1994)

Throughout its history, the WWE has frequently tried to create gimmick characters to capitalise on popular culture, regardless of the fact that Vince McMahon, on many occasions, has shown himself to be massively out of touch with the masses. This is best demonstrated by how he believed Scott Hall's Scarface impersonation to be an original idea and how he culled Paul Birchill's pirate character because he'd never heard of the Pirates of the Caribbean films that it was a homage to. It should therefore come as no surprise that a rapping tag team were introduced in 1993, several years after the likes of the NWA had propelled the rap genre into the musical mainstream. Made up of the near 500lb Mabel and the near 300lb Mo, the team won the Tag Team Championship on one occasion before the decision was made to give Mabel a main event push that culminated in him winning 1995's King of The Ring tournament. This was given a lukewarm reception by the company's fans, who were already being turned off in droves by the increasing cast of cartoon characters that made up the active roster. A year prior to this, both Mabel and Mo competed in 1994's Royal Rumble, fresh off of a 'match' at Survivor Series that had seen them dress up as copies of Doink the Clown. Though Mabel was seen as the bigger star of the team (as indicated by his later push), he was given just 10 minutes in comparison to Mo's 22. During this 22 minutes, the lighter member of the team partook in no eliminations. Perhaps to make up for this long and dull period, he lasted just 3 seconds in the following year's event, almost breaking the 2 second 'record' then held by The Warlord.
