11 Head-Scratchingly Long WWE Royal Rumble Performances

2. Mike Knox - 32:42 (2009)

2009's Rumble match was unique in that a third of the field functioned as marathon men, each lasting for twenty minutes or more. Chief amongst these were established performers in the form of Triple H, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker and Randy Orton, but up-and-comers like CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. (the latter two being part of Orton's Legacy faction at the time) were also given the chance to shine. The odd-man out in the group was Mike Knox, who spent two years on the revived ECW brand between 2006 and 2008, though he was taken off of television on two occasions and sent back to the developmental system to hone his skills. He was then moved to Raw ahead of the Royal Rumble event, and eventually moved to Smackdown a few months afterwards, failing to pick up much in the way of momentum on either before he parted ways with the WWE in 2010, ending up in TNA three years later. Given this lack of a push going into or following the event, it's not clear why Knox was booked to last for 32 minutes after entering at #12, particularly given how claustrophobic the match was at times given the long periods it featured without any eliminations.
