11 Huge AEW Full Gear 2021 Predictions You Need To Know
4. CM Punk vs. Eddie Kingston
Eddie Kingston vs. CM Punk is proof of concept when it comes to AEW's approach on utilising their wrestlers' past in feuds and storylines. If the company hadn't leaned on their locker-rooms these guys would have shared years ago, and the stories that emerged from them, there wouldn't be nearly as much value to the match, which feels like one of the hottest things on the card despite the two-week build.
It helps that Punk and Kingston are amongst the most authentic characters and believable talkers in the game, of course. Their segment on last week's episode of Rampage was one of the year's finest. An incendiary promo barrage of barb after barb, informed by their reputations and past experiences, it more than sold the upcoming fight, and finally saw Punk click into a spiteful new gear for the first time since returning to wrestling.
This should feel rugged, rough, and raw, like the beef itself. Punk and Kingston will throw thunder and take it in return. But they're also two of the smartest workers in the promotion, meaning that when the bell rings, you can expect the in-ring story to be as compelling as the one they're telling on the microphone.
Punk wins, sending Eddie spiralling closer to his vengeful side.
Winner: CM Punk
