2. Ric Flair’s “Woo Off” With Jay Lethal
Ric Flair ticked a lot of folks off on WWE's end by going back on his retirement vow from 2008 as soon as he could. The company handed Flair (who was more closely tied to the NWA/WCW than he ever was to them) one of the most elaborate and emotional send offs ever at WrestleMania XXIV, but the 'Nature Boy' couldn't stick to it.
He left WWE in 2009, then wrestled Hulk Hogan on a special tour in Australia towards the end of that year. After that, Ric signed on the dotted line with TNA and arrived in style on the 4 January 2010 edition of Impact. By March, he was actively working matches again, and each one was more embarrassing to witness than the last.
The worst was to come after the moment celebrated here, admittedly. An October 'Last Man Standing' effort vs. Mick Foley just shouldn't have happened. Thankfully, fans had something to be more positive about regarding Flair beforehand. It came on the 8 July Impact. What happened there has become stuff of legend.
A fired up and eager to impress Jay Lethal interrupted Ric and his new Fortune faction. Together, they went back and forth doing Flair's trademark “Woo” as everyone struggled to hold in their laughter. It was wonderful television, and it remains the definitive moment of Flair's entire stretch with TNA. The rest of his 2010-2012 run was roundly crap, but this was a highlight.
Almost unbelievably, Ric didn't retire retire until 2022. The jury's out on that being ironclad.
