11 Most Disappointing Things About WrestleMania 33

7. No Insane Shane McMahon Stunt

One thing WWE did right in terms of pacing was to kick the main show off with the AJ Styles/Shane McMahon match. Very few fans were overly excited about this one so it was a good move to get it out of the way early, leaving the door open for the two to exceed expectations. The one thing no one wanted to see from these two was a standard wrestling match.

We got a standard wrestling match.

Granted, there were some of Shane’s trademark spots sprinkled in, plus a pretty sweet (missed) shooting star press. But damn it, it’s WrestleMania - and we expected to see Vince’s batsh*t crazy son ascend some towering structure and try to kill himself for our amusement.

The giant roller coaster on the stage as well as the humongous ring hovering over the actual ring all felt like things Shane would’ve looked at and thought “Yep, I’m hopping off that sh*t tonight” - but alas it was not to be. Was this in an actual effort to not outshine the full-time performers, or could it be that at his age, McMahon decided he just wasn’t up to it this year?

We may never know, but we do know it isn’t a Shane-O-Mac performance without some death-defying stunt.
