6. The Ring Work In The Reigns/Taker Match Was Atrocious

While we’re on the subject of ring work, can we talk about Roman’s performance for a moment?

I’m not in the camp that considers him to be the worst thing to ever happen to professional wrestling; for example, the type of fan that brings a “Roman Reigns is a holocaust denier” sign to 'Mania. I find him to be charismatic and perfectly capable in the ring, albeit not ready for the position he’s been thrust into.

That being said, his performance against The Undertaker might have been his worst high profile match. A lot of that can be placed on the ageing shoulders of The Phenom and his broken down undead body - but Reigns deserves some of the blame for what was a terribly anti-climactic main event.

In the closing moments of the contest, Roman just spammed Superman punches and Spears in an effort to conquer his legendary foe. The match began to resemble two noobs playing WWE2K, armed only with the knowledge of the button combos for finishers.

There were a couple of mildly botched spots – one involving a Tombstone reversal – and the entire ending sequence was like watching someone walk their sickly old pet into the vet’s office to be put down.
