11 Reasons Why The Million Dollar Man Was WWE's Biggest Heel

10. He Created The Million Dollar Championship When He Couldn€™t Win The WWF Championship

From the minute he burst through the doors of the WWF in 1987 with his maniacal cackle, €œThe Million Dollar Man€ committed to an endless pursuit of the WWF Championship. He used his great wealth to put himself in the best position possible to win, but it was never enough. He tried and tried to legitimately win the title from the likes of Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage to no avail. By the time 1989 rolled around, he did the only thing he could do: Buy his own championship belt. DiBiase threw on his best suit, hopped into his limo with a handful of cash, and had his chauffer/bodyguard, Virgil, take him to Greenwich, CT€™s Betteridge Jewelers. Store owner Terry Betteridge politely introduced himself to DiBiase, saying it was a €œterrific honor€ to meet him. Ted€™s answer? €œOf course it is.€ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_0fpAtGbq0 After demanding the belt have more diamonds and gold, DiBiase appeared on The Brother Love Show and showed off the shiny new Million Dollar Championship. It was the gaudiest contraption the wrestling business had ever seen and that covers a lot of ground. Rumor has it that the belt cost $125,000 to make, which is something like $475,000,000 today if you consider inflation. I don€™t know. I was never great at math.
