There was a time when Lana was one of WWE's hottest acts. Sure, the Russian accent was a little ridiculous, but the Ravishing Russian had an aura that simply could not be denied. Lana was instrumental in getting Rusev over initially, and it seemed as though WWE had struck gold with a manager in the 21st century.

For reasons that will never quite make sense, WWE has since become obsessed with transitioning Lana into the ring. Why oh why is this happening? The Florida native was gold dust outside of the ring - inside she is whatever the opposite of gold dust is. WWE has taken an immensely hot blonde woman and totally neutralised her.

Lana could well end up being one of the biggest victims of modern day's women's wrestling. In times past, the Ravishing Russian would have been kept as a valet, a beautiful woman to help get her charge get heat. Now every female has to be an in-ring performer. Lana simply is not there, and WWE has killed her in the process.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
