Since the recent Hulk Hogan racism scandal, everyone's been reminded of just how questionably WWE's history is. They certainly haven't been the most racism-free company over the years, and often handle the topic with a complete lack of dignity and class. However, since the turn of the century, Vince McMahon and co. have really begun to clean up their act, ditching a lot of the more racially-insensitive gimmicks and...oh wait a second. Cryme Tyme were a tag team debuting in 2006, and consisted of JTG and Shad, a pair of happy-go-lucky criminals whose vignettes depicted them robbing passers by. Yes, they were babyfaces. Once again, incase the point hasn't really hit home - WWE gave two African-Americans a criminal gimmick, and named them Cryme Tyme. It's worth reiterating that this all took place from 2006 to 2007, and caused shockingly minimal fuss at the time. What a difference 8 years make. Sounds Like: Vince McMahon having far too much control.
