11 Things We Learnt From 'Being The Elite' So Far
1. It's All For "The Business That We Love"
Kenny, Nick and Matt make this point sarcastically throughout, and make some interesting comments that might suggest that the heavy schedule isn't worth sacrificing their health. A cheeky jab at Triple H? A criticism of an odd superiority complex? Or maybe it really is just for the love of the business?
Criticised by some for "killing the business", the Bucks take it all in their stride. Making attire in tribute to Dave Meltzer, and claiming their first 5-star match at PWG Bola with Ospreay, Ricochet and Sydal promptly afterwards, the Young Bucks are most definitely the present and future of tag team wrestling.
As for Kenny, he can only go upwards from here. His storybook rise to the top in New Japan this year has been the result of hard work and a passion that has driven him through the strenuous schedule and long periods away from home. He's also "been a gym leader in every building (the Elite have) performed in" in Japan at Pokemon Go. That's got to count for something.
Their idea of a love for 'the business' shows a realistic perception of the reality of a wrestler. It's a difficult life, and you have to have drive to make it, all with a sense of humour when things get tough. The Elite could well be the popular representation of indie wrestling today - in an industry that is constantly changing and adapting, the Elite are always at the front of the pack.
