11 Things WWE Got Wrong At SummerSlam 2017

6. The Death Of The Shark Cage

The low point of the show was the lumbering battle of the Bigs. Big Cass defeated Big Show in a match that made no sense and achieved absolutely nothing. Enzo Amore was suspended in a shark cage above the ring during the match, and any vague credibility that the Michael Jordan of Jargon had before this match is long gone now.

Without going into the preposterousness of having a babyface in the shark cage, Enzo went on to ruin the gimmick forever by escaping the cage. Not only that, Enzo’s escape was ultimately for nought. The babyface escaped the cage only to be booted by the heel.

Surely the shark cage gimmick is now dead? It is a fairly outdated gimmick in truth, but WWE still likes to pull it out now and again. It may be a while before we see it again.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
