11 Things WWE Got Wrong In 2017

7. The Money In The Bank Briefcase

Baron Corbin

You’ll notice that the title of this point is singular as opposed to plural. Why? Well, Carmella has turned out to be a pretty fair choice as the winner of the inaugural women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. The Princess of Staten Island is fallible enough to justify her reticence at cashing in, and when she eventually does it will make for some interesting television.

‘Interesting television’ is pretty much the antonym of ‘Baron Corbin’. The men’s Money in the Bank ladder match was shaping up to be the best in the history of the gimmick. The bout was a fine exercise in drama and suspense, but the wrong man eventually claimed the blue briefcase. Baron Corbin simply wasn’t ready for the spot.

The Lone Wolf eventually attempted to cash in on Jinder Mahal, only to be distracted by John Cena and rolled up by the Modern Day Maharaja. It was a lame way to get the case off of Corbin, and showed how tired the entire concept may be in 2017. Would the WWE Universe not have been better served with Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn running around with the case?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
