11 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Great Khali

7. The Punjabi Playboy Gimmick

The Great Khali's career trajectory perfectly mirrored that of every monster heel ever: belligerent behemoth, failed sympathetic face run, 'comedy' character (with some poorly choreographed attempts at dancing.)

Brodus Clay. Albert. Kamala. Mabel (although he managed the rare first inversion by being a 'hilarious' wobbly dancer first). Even Kane couldn't resist a little jig courtesy of Santino. Turns out Gloria Estefan was right.

So it was absolutely no surprise whatsoever to see Khali, a man apparently designed to "end The Undertaker", shift attention away from plundering to philandering. With a bit of dancing here and there.

As the self-styled 'Punjabi Playboy', Khali played the regrettably frequent yet rarely hilarious Lothario (not José), the added twist being that he was Indian. The colossal Casanova snatched a weekly kiss to the delight of all but one person involved, shacking up with Natalya in segments which, remarkably, were actually a step up for her after the farting nonsense. As an added fly on this ineffable heap of excrement, Santina made a cameo.

A reminder to all: stick to making war, not love.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
