11 Undeniable Reasons WWE Raw Ratings Are Plummeting
4. Fighting Against The Fans
I touched on this briefly in a previous entry, but let's really dive into the issue. There have been some glaring instances in the last several years where it appears that WWE is going out of their way to actively fight against the rising tide of their fanbase's wishes. Can you imagine if Vince McMahon had read the cards wrong with Steve Austin back in 1996 and decided to have him constantly put over Savio Vega rather than riding the wave of momentum he was creating and turning him into the biggest star in history? Or what about if they ignored the vehement backlash against blue chipper Rocky Maivia and forged ahead with his bland white meat babyface character rather than creating The Rock, simply because that 'wasn't in the plans'? It's unfathomable to mentally rewrite history in such a manner, yet lately it seems as if the current Vince McMahon would have done exactly that. What is the point in resisting the wants of your own audience? There's no benefit to doing business that way, and no other entertainment entity would even dream of doing so, yet it seems to have become par for the course with WWE. You can only push back against the audience and troll us so many times before we wake up and realise we're in what amounts to an abusive relationship and start finding other things to invest our time in. We've already outlined how there's innumerable other options to turn our attention to. Why should we remain loyal to a company that doesn't seem to care what we want?
