11 United States Champions (Who Didn't Come From America)

5. Konnan

I remember Konnan more as a particularly sassy member of the New World Order, but when he first came into World Championship Wrestling he did so as a particularly bright luchador, wearing attire that truly wasn't a million miles away from his gear when wrestling in the WWF for a short spell as Max Moon.

Konnan became a full-time member of the WCW roster in January 1996.

It wouldn't take him long to taste success either, just seven days in fact, when he defeated One Man Gang for the US Championship. He was also IWAS and AAA Heavyweight Champion at the time, and continued to defend those straps in WCW.

K Dawg would have a pretty successful run with the title, holding it for 160 days before losing it to Ric Flair at the 1996 Bash at the Beach.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
