11 United States Champions (Who Didn't Come From America)

3. Sheamus

Oh, Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior may very well go down in history as the best wrestler everybody hated. His body of work is more than impressive, and not many have portrayed the tough fighting champion better than this pasty man.

Sure, his babyface promos bordered on dirt, but when he was in a fight the man was involved in some truly gripping battles.

Sheamus has held the WWE United States Championship on two occasions, his runs lasting a cumulative time of 230 days. His first reign came at the expense of Daniel Bryan way back in 2011, in a match that would have seen Sheamus quit RAW if he'd lost.

He didn't, obviously, and held the title for six weeks before dropping it to Ghanaian Kofi Kingston at Extreme Rules 2011.

His second reign started in less heroic circumstances, winning a 20-man battle royal to mercifully end the dragging 351-day reign of Dean Ambrose. This run lasted a little longer, stretching 182 days (and seeing him get beaten up by Cesaro quite a lot) before Rusev ended it on the WWE Network in November 2014.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
