11 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (7 Sept)
1. The Best Guy
Jon Moxley is the best guy.
How many times has AEW been able to count on its heart and soul to carry things when times are tough? It happens so often that any other performer would likely buckle under the weight, but not Moxley. The man has positioned himself so far above the petty bullsh*t that drags others down that he is now operating in a different strategy. Drama-free and full of thunder, it's hard to imagine a man who cares less for pro wrestling politics, and that he is currently delivering greatness at a more consistent rate than ever before helps a lot, too.
Moxley's promo was phenomenal. After running MJF, he conceded he was embarrassed and p*ssed off about a great many things, including his World Title defeat to CM Punk. That belt is the only material possession that matters to him for what it represents. It is everything he loves about the business and the people that make it great. Delivered with conviction, his work landed as strongly as they did in the pandemic, where it often felt like Moxley was the one bastion of light an impossibly grim period that would have killed a company anchored by a lesser man.
Fortunately, Jon Moxley is the man.
In times of chaos, who else are you going to rally around in such a way? The man's burning spirit is incomparable.
Tony Khan should send him and Danielson to the finals.
