11 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (7 Sept)

9. The Locker Room Leader Leads

Chris Jericho has come in for strong praise for his calm, level-headed approach to helping AEW navigate its recent chaos, so it was appropriate to bring him in to cut a promo hyping the tournament caused by this rough situation.

The Jericho Appreciation Society leader was good here. Claiming he was drinking in the fountain of youth, man, after defeating Bryan Danielson, he promised victory in the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions and put his two boys, Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia, over huge in their own endeavours. Guevara faces Darby Allin in the tournament while Garcia had his shot at Wheeler Yuta's ROH Pure Title on deck.

This served to further the story of Garcia's inner conflict, too. The 'Dragon Slayer' remains at the heart of a tug of war between conflicting ideologies in AEW.
