11 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (7 Sept)

7. Toni Storm Stays Strong As Interim Champion

Toni Storm Penelope Ford

It was nice to see Penelope Ford getting a more substantial workout following her recent return from injury. An exciting prospect before she disappeared, she will hopefully enjoy more opportunities to do cool things as time progresses.

She looked good opposite Toni Storm. Their Interim Women's World Title eliminator bout was tight, brisk, and competitive, with the two wrestlers fighting for parity before Ford kicked Storm in the gut after a handshake, turning the match into something more heated. Ford's control period was a success, as evidenced by the support generated for Toni's comeback, which was rubber-stamped by another brutal-looking hip attack then a DDT engineering out of a Northern Lights Suplex for the pinfall.

Good, solid stuff and an effective way to get a champion that people like onto the show.
