11 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (3 Sept)
1. Wet Blanket
Let's switch gears with this "Chad Gable is short" angle and speak not of WWE highlighting his most glaring weakness, but the former American Alpha man's reaction to it.
Gable never speaks up for himself. He never claps back or stiffens up and readies himself for a fight. He doesn't get angry, fired up, and affronted. Instead, he disappears within himself, becoming 3'8" rather than his billed 5'8", sulking like a bullied school kid on the verge of tears instead of the ripped professional fighter with Olympic wrestling experience that he is.
It happened again when Chad crossed paths with Samoa Joe last night, offering nothing in response as the former United States Champion made height jokes and called Gable mentally weak. Again, Chad looked like he wanted to cry.
How do you get behind a character with so little fire? Stand up for yourself, man. You're a great wrestler whose amateur experience almost guarantees you'd wreck a guy like Joe in a real fight, so quit being a jellyfish.
