11 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Feb 4)
2. X Division At Its Best
Without a doubt, the X division has always been the best thing about Impact Wrestling. It's what helped put the company on the map from the get-go, and it's the recipient of the promotion's (so far) only five star match courtesy of Dave Meltzer.
TJP vs. Vikingo was the definition of a perfect X division match. Had it been part of an actual rivalry leading into a pay-per-view as opposed to a throwaway match on TV, then it very well could've gained the coveted five stars. It had literally everything you could ever want from a match in the division - fast-paced action, innovative offence, and flips all around the ring. What's not to love?
Vikingo was once again on top form here, busting out a tope con hilo over the ring post that saw him somehow land on his feet, and strut off like it was nothing. Even though the Mexican sensation would go on to lose the match to TJP (the former WWE 205 Live star busted out some modified STF to force a submission victory), Vikingo looked like an absolute star here, with The North ambushing him post-match before Fallah Bahh had them retreating.
Considering Ethan Page and Josh Alexander attacked the star after the bell, as well as the fact Vikingo has a recent pinfall victory over the latter, this could very well be leading to a World Tag Team Championship for the high flier. More Vikingo on our screens is nothing but great news.
