11 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling No Surrender 2021
6. What's His Name?
Ever since The Deaners split up at Final Resolution, your writer has been eagerly anticipating the official debut of Jake Something in Impact Wrestling. Thankfully, we weren't disappointed; Jake's definitely Something, that something being an absolute unit in the ring.
His victory vs. Deaner came in one of the night's best bouts. Straight out of the bat, Jake was battering his cousin all around the ring, with surprisingly very little interference from Deaner's Violent By Design partners at ringside. This was exactly what it needed to be - a straight-out fight. Jake is one of those names who you don't realise is someone to keep your eyes on, yet, here he was flying over the ropes onto Eric Young and Joe Doering, and near enough breaking the spine of Deaner via Black Hole Slam. Jake Something has left his impact, no pun intended.
Could the post-match triple powerbomb through a table gone down better on a different night? Absolutely. This was Jake Something's night. We didn't need any shenanigans following the bell. Regardless, this was a solid match that told the perfect story. That it's been an ongoing story arc since the middle of December, and still doesn't feel as if it's dragging is a perfect example of how great the talent involved is.
