11 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Oct 9)

4. Fire & Thunder

Dynamite's Dustin Rhodes and Hangman Page vs. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara main event was set up on this week's Being The Elite, during which Page was criticised for not helping Cody, Dustin, and the Young Bucks as Chris Jericho's new stable beat them down. Conceding he was in the wrong, Hangman vowed to step up.

This one started hot, with Dustin, the crowd's sentimental favourite, absolutely furious with Jericho. He beat the AEW Champion's arse right away, knocking him all over the place to the point where 'The Painmaker' was neutralised on the outside. Dustin's focus then turned to beating young Sammy into shape. He worked with fire, passion, and conviction, and so did Page, whose performances have gone up since Fight for the Fallen's wet fart of a bout with Kip Sabian.

An extended heat segment saw Page work the face-in-peril spot before firing back with a starchy discus clothesline on Guevara. The babyfaces couldn't muster enough momentum to win, though: that was cut off when Jake Hager interjected as Sammy occupied the referee, allowing Jericho to nail Dustin with the Judas Effect for the W.

A great tag bout with a classic formula and two compelling veteran/up-and-comer combinations, this hit the spot.
