11 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Oct 9)

2. Wins & Losses Matter?

Darby Allin Jimmy Havoc
AEW

For a promotion that keeps going out of their way to push the idea that wins and losses matter, the booking of Darby Allin vs. Jimmy Havoc as a number one contender's bout was curious.

Allin and Havoc had both wrestled four times for AEW when the match with announced. Each had only one singles victory to their name, with Havoc's triumph coming over Allin and Joey Janela in a Triple Threat. While Darby's draw with Full Gear challenger Cody almost justifies his spot, this is nullified by Jimmy's win over him, as the booking rendered their All Out outcome irrelevant.

Meanwhile, PAC is sitting on a 2-0 record. What gives?

Perhaps AEW don't want to burn PAC's first loss yet. Regardless, he had more of a case to be in the bout than either Allin or Havoc, thus giving AEW their first booking conundrum with these win/loss records. Here's hoping they figure it out going forward.
