11 Ups & 6 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Nov 24)

8. A Phenomenal Choice

The Good Brothers spent last week bigging up the arrival of their truly phenomenal opponent for Ethan Page this week. All the verbiage used by them could only point towards one man. One man who remains under contract to WWE.

Instead of 'The Phenomenal One', we received 'The Wee-nomenal One' instead, as Swoggle, under the alias of CJ Swoggle this week, dressed up as Impact icon AJ Styles to battle 'All Ego'. As expected, the match was nothing too special, mostly consisting of Page easily demolishing Swoggle with the aid of Josh Alexander at ringside. A distraction from Karl Anderson, however, gave CJ the opportunity to roll up the former two-time World Tag Team Champion for the surprise win.

Obviously, AJ Styles was never going to appear here. It was literally impossible from a legal standpoint. What we got instead was fine. Swoggle is an easy choice to use when you want some comedy, and all fairness to him, he properly gave it his all in his AJ Styles getup. The story that's being told of Ethan Page slowly losing his mind over the loss of the titles is making for an entertaining bit of storytelling too.
