When TNA made its ill-fated move to Monday night programming in 2010, my then girlfriend found herself with little option but to watch TNA Impact Wrestling with me.

To her great surprise, she became rather enthralled by one character on the show in particular. No, it wasn't the Nasty Boys or Val Venis, but Daffney.

The reason was that there was just something about her, the intangible X-factor that made her stand out from the pack. Daffney had a different look to the rest of the knockouts, and carried a totally different aura.

She was more than capable in the ring too, the ex-girlfriend commenting that her attacks seemed more vicious because of her aesthetic.

I tend to agree, and TNA could have done a whole lot more with Daffney around this time. She was another option TNA had if they wanted to present a real alternative to WWE, to offer something different.

She was severely injured towards the end of 2010, and was given a whole lot of nothing to do on her return before being given the boot.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
