11 Wrestlers Who Broke Their Necks In The Ring
2. Steve Austin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKYYsg-jMfUThe biggest star in the history of the business hardly needs any introduction, especially given that he was on this list a few entries earlier due to playing a large part in the breaking of Masahiro Chono's neck.
History has a funny way of repeating itself at times, so when Owen Hart executed the same sit-down tombstone that Austin had used on Chono just a few years before it stands to reason that the cosmic jester would have something to say about it.
Austin landed directly on top of his head, breaking his neck as a result. Despite this, he still managed to finish the match with an unsurprisingly weak roll-up.
The incident caused friction between Austin and Owen - due to Austin claiming that Hart never apologised - and would plague Stone Cold throughout the rest of his career.
He wound up taking a year out for surgery when his character was at its hottest and it was issues with his neck that eventually led to his retirement following a match against The Rock at WrestleMania XIX.
