11 Wrestlers Who Broke Their Necks In The Ring

Gary Wolfe - better known as Pitbull #1 to ECW fans - was one half of one of the most fearsome tag teams in the company's history. Like many others in ECW, he wrestled a dangerous style to sate the bloodlust of the rabid Philadelphia crowds.

This came back to bite him during an encounter with Shane Douglas where Wolfe ended up being DDT'd onto a belt. While the move didn't seem to cause any major damage at first - with Wolfe himself stating that he went backstage and started trying to click his neck back into place - it was later discovered that it had actually broken his neck.

Pitbull #2 would end up feuding with Douglas on-screen over the incident, with one of the more shocking moments of the era coming when Douglas got his hands on Wolfe and violently shook him while he was still in his surgical halo.

The two still don't seem to have agreed whose fault it was, with Wolfe stating that it was Douglas who broke his neck whereas Douglas claims Wolfe broke his own neck by taking the move wrong.
