Masahiro Chono is a legend in Japan and is one of the most popular stars that the country produced during the early-90s. This popularity was solidified when he won the NWA World Championship, taking it over to Japan in the process.

This title win led to a few defences of the belt in his native land, including one against 'Stunning' Steve Austin in September 1992. The match was going well until a spot where Chono had Austin in position for a tombstone.

Austin reversed position and delivered the move himself, sitting down instead of landing on his knees in a moment that is eerily similar to a more well-known incident involving Austin.

The result was a broken neck for Chono, though it didn't hold him back. He was back in action just a few months later and continued to enjoy a decorated career.

Today he still wrestles, though his appearances are much more sporadic than they were in his prime.
