11 Wrestlers Who Would Rather Do Nothing Than Work For WWE

4. Bret Hart

It took Bret Hart several painful years to work through not just his own controversial 1997 exit from WWE but also his brother Owen's tragic 1999 death before an instantly iconic image of 'The Hitman' and the McMahon shaking hands dropped on WWE.com.

Their original reunion was put together in order to facilitate Hart's first career retrospective DVD and impending Hall Of Fame induction over WrestleMania 22 weekend, but even then the wounds were too deep for 'The Excellence Of Execution' to participate in the 'Show Of Shows' itself or an angle between Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon that felt crafted to bait him out of retirement.

Hart spent another four years away before agreeing to return on the January 4th edition of Monday Night Raw, coincidentally as a huge ratings-grabber right as WWE faced the veneer of competition in the form of a star-loaded special edition of TNA Impact. Bret's time away from McMahon had been through gritted teeth - he genuinely seemed happy to let bygones be bygones when he did make his return.
