Fired: Choking ring announcer Justin Roberts with his own tie on live television during the height of WWE's PG era got Daniel Bryan fired in June 2010. The act was deemed too violent by top brass (even though it undeniably added to the sudden Nexus takeover of Raw), and WWE didn't hang around.

Internet darling Bryan Danielson returned to his independent stomping ground.

Rehired: By SummerSlam in August, WWE realised they needed something big to help the 'Team WWE' vs. Nexus main event sing. That "something big" was rehiring Bryan, turning him babyface and making him the linchpin of the pay-per-view's headliner. It was a huge spot for him, and fans gobbled it up.

Bryan had been gone from WWE for a grand total of 65 days. It was like the company wanted to distance themselves from any negative PR and then go right back about their business as soon as they could - so, that's what they did.
