11 Wrestling Easter Eggs You Totally Didn't Notice

10. The Exalted One Teases

On the subject of the Dark Order, AEW unleashed a very astute and incredibly detailed viral campaign leading to the arrival of the 'Exalted One'.

It was of course revealed to be Mr. Brodie Lee, who was so incredible in the role that he elevated a low-rent misfire of an act into a multi-seated star vehicle. Brodie himself got over as a terrifying and hilarious colossus adept at laying out matches that positioned him as the cerebral monster. Watch the the July 30 Dynamite opener - and the way in which he lulled Hangman Page into his maw - for evidence of that. John Silver got over as the misbehaving, endearing underling. Anna Jay applied Brodie's mentorship to develop her facial expression game in the heel role.

But AEW, before this impressive turnaround, effectively threw you off the scent. ECW legend Raven - himself a leader of societal outcasts - was spotted in the crowd on the February 19 2020 Dynamite. Acrostic poems posted to social media spelled out the name Matt Hardy; Hardy himself played with the mystery on his own web series.

But most missed the clue dropped in plain sight; on one such Twitter post, the text "Three Chartreuse Buzzards" was hidden. "Sitting in a dead tree," is how the creepy nursery rhyme goes, and in direct parallel, Hardy sat on an elaborate wooden throne in a further YouTube post. But people followed the wrong clue.

They should have followed the buzzards.
