11 WWE Poster Boys That Didn't Make The Pay-Per-View

3. Sheamus - Elimination Chamber 2012

Another PPV with a poster boy who didn't compete but did run in at the end of a World Heavyweight Championship match. Sheamus had shocked the world (or at least a healthy percentage of it) by winning the Royal Rumble in 2012, a match seemingly set up for Chris Jericho to win. Many to this day still believe Jericho should have won that match, myself included.

Either way, Sheamus had a world title match guaranteed for WrestleMania so his job at Elimination Chamber was to sit back and watch the two matches and decide which way to go. Everyone and their dog knew he would be challenging Daniel Bryan, so it didn't surprise anyone when he came out after Bryan had vanquished Santino Marella to confirm his 'Mania challenge.

He then beat D-Bry in 18 seconds at WrestleMania. Eurgh.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
