10. Yokozuna - WrestleMania X

After wrestling in two matches at WrestleMania X, beating Lex Luger by disqualification and coming up short in the main event against Bret Hart, Yokozuna quickly faded away from the main event scene. He tagged with Crush for a while, unsuccessfully challenging the Headshrinkers for the WWF World Tag Team Championships at King of the Ring 1994, but that was as good as it got that year for the first heel champion to retain the top title at WrestleMania.

By the time SummerSlam came around in August, Yokozuna was off the card completely. He had been working house shows mostly against Lex Luger, The Undertaker and Mabel, but those three gentlemen found themselves against different opponents at the show that was 'so hot it's scary'.

After continuing to lose to Taker for the rest of the year, including a Casket Match at Survivor Series that included Chuck Norris, Yokozuna returned to something approaching prominence with a tag title run in 1995 alongside Owen Hart. His weight was out of control though, and by the end of 1996 he was gone from the company completely.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
