The gimmick:

You know the deal by now—Ric Flair was, of course, the styling, profiling, limousine-riding, jet-flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin’ n’ dealin’ son of a gun.

He wore $600 lizard skin shoes, suits you couldn’t even dream of affording and ostentatious robes fit for a king. Men wanted to be him, women wanted to be with him. In fairness, you could say it sounds so appealing that there’s little wonder that Richard Fliehr grew so attached to the idea…

In real life:

Richard Fliehr, the man beneath the gimmick, has been described as a pathological extrovert. Even in retirement, he’s rarely seen wearing anything other than a Flair-worthy suit and has seemingly spent the better part of the last four decades drinking, partying or socialising in some capacity or another. In fact, it seems the only thing he doesn’t spend his time doing is sleeping...

Even at 68, stories are coming out of the 20 vodkas he’d drink a day, the $1.2 million he spent on alcohol last year, and the 10,000 women he claims to have slept with.

It all sounds perfectly in line with the Flair shtick, though it also sounds rather embellished upon—which, in a way, you could say makes it even more apropos to the braggadocios ways of the Flair gimmick.
