11 WWE Wrestlers With Multiple 5 Star Matches
7. Samoa Joe
There was a time when Samoa Joe was probably the best wrestler in North America, and arguably, the world. In the early-to-mid 2000s, he went on an absolute tear in both ROH and TNA, having lengthy title reigns and dream matches that are still being talked about to this day.
He had the first 5 star match in America in seven years with CM Punk, which went to a time limit draw after an hour of intense physical storytelling. In 2005, he, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels main-evented TNA's Unbreakable PPV, where they put on the only 5-star match in the company's entire history: a wild, fast-paced spotfest that was the peak of TNA's golden age. Finally, just a month after the TNA show, Joe faced off against Japanese legend Kenta Kobashi in a dream match for ROH, and the two peltered the absolute bejesus out of each other for the enjoyment of a molten New York City crowd. That last match earned the Wrestling Observer's "Match of the Year" award for 2005.
It's absolutely bonkers to think it took a whole decade afterward for Joe to finally show up in WWE. We can only imagine what he could have (or wouldn't have) accomplished if his best years were spent there.
