11 WWE Wrestlers With Multiple 5 Star Matches
6. Steve Austin
It's tricky to say who deserves credit when a 5 star match features so many competitors, as is the case with the ladder match at this last NXT TakeOver. While all six men absolutely put on fantastic performances, you can't really say that any one of the competitors were the most important in the match's success. Still, it's shocking to think that guys like Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan, and EC3 now have a 5 star match under their belts, especially Dream, when you consider his youth.
It's similar to how "Stunning" Steve Austin, despite being relatively new in the wrestling business, earned a 5 star rating when participating in a War Games match at WrestleWar 1992, when the Dangerous Alliance took on a team led by Sting. However, the Alliance's manager, Paul Heyman, probably wasn't that shocked that Austin set the bar high for himself early on. Heyman says he was convinced early on that Austin was the future of the business, and eventually, "Stone Cold" proved him right. In 1997, a little over a year into his WWE run, he and Bret Hart put on arguably the greatest match in company history: a bloody, brutal brawl which saw the most famous double turn of all time.
So the question is: can guys like Velveteen Dream and Sullivan follow suit? Time will tell.
