Just days before Saturday's event, it was announced via Twitter that Jazz's nearly one-thousand day reign as NWA World Women's Champion was over and the belt was vacated. According to Jazz herself the reason was medical and personal in nature, though more specific details have yet to come to light.

As such, the Crockett Cup saw Allysin Kay battle Santana Garrett for the vacant championship in a fast-paced and hard-hitting bout. Garrett's agility and speed led to an early advantage, but eventually Kay's power and resilience allowed her to capture the win and the Women's Championship. WWE Hall of Famer Madusa was on hand to present to Kay upon the match's conclusion.

Commentator Ian Riccaboni then speculated about Kay possibly bringing her newly won gold to ROH's Women of Honor division and noted that current WOH Champion Kelly Klein was sure to be watching the proceedings closely. Perhaps a champion versus champion match could be in the making.
