12 Greatest Wrestling Dynasties Of All Time
4. Poffo
The Poffo wrestling dynasty began in Karl Pojello’s gym in 1948, when The Masked Miser stepped inside the squared circle for the first time. Otherwise known as Angelo John Poffo, he primarily operated throughout the Midwestern NWA territories, but also worked for Emile Dupree (Renee’s father) up in Canada during the ‘70s and ‘80s, and ran International Championship Wrestling in Kentucky up until 1983.
Angelo retired in 1991, and his sons took his legacy further than he ever could. Lanny, the younger of the two, was a skilled and nimble competitor, and signed for WWE in 1985. He was primarily used as an enhancement talent during his early years, then turned heel and became The Genius in 1989, though he was never able to become a major star.
His brother, on the other hand, is one of the most important WWE superstars of all-time. A truly unique performer, ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage should need no introduction. He was a vital component of WWE’s rise during the 1980s, winning the WWE Championship on two separate occasions, and starring in some of the era’s biggest storylines. Wild, intense, and full of personality, we’ll never see another like him.
