12 Huge WWE Dream Matches That Were Supposed To Happen But Didn’t

4. Mr. McMahon Vs Mick Foley (WrestleMania X-Seven)

After Foley retired (yeah right) at WrestleMania 16 he settled into the role of on-screen commissioner, a role which provided bags of entertainment throughout 2000 and 2001. Foley seemed content just goofing around with his buddies Al Snow, Edge, Christian and Kurt Angle in segments but Foley, as he has done several times, decided he still had a match left in him. Jolly old Mick began a feud with Vince McMahon in early 2001, which was set to culminate in a Street Fight at WrestleMania X-Seven but, at some point, plans were changed. Foley thought the better of it and wanted to stay retired so the match was changed to Vince taking on his son Shane instead. Foley was still involved as the special guest referee. Vince versus Foley would have been a lot more refreshing than yet another McMahon vs McMahon match but the Vince/Shane street fight ended up being very entertaining in its own right and Foley remained retired (for another three years at least).
