12 Huge WWE Dream Matches That Were Supposed To Happen But Didn’t
8. Bret Hart Vs Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania XIII)
WrestleMania XIII was one of the worst WrestleManias of all time. The definition of a 'one match show' the only WrestleMania worthy match on the card was the classic submission match between Steve Austin and Bret Hart. Bret wasn't supposed to wrestle Austin on the show, however. Hart was originally meant to square off with Shawn Michaels but Vince felt that it was 'too predictable' as the two had clashed in a (very boring) sixty minute Iron Man at WrestleMania the year before. Vince then had another change of heart (or Hart) and booked Shawn versus Bret in a ladder match with Shawn's hair and Bret's championship on the line. That never happened either because Shawn famously lost his smile and Vince decided to go with The Undertaker and Sid in the main event. It was awful. Still, at least we got the excellent Hart/Austin match out of it, if nothing else. Shawn versus Bret would have been good but, as Vince rightly pointed out, the match was a bit played-out by that point.
