12 Huge WWE Dream Matches That Were Supposed To Happen But Didn’t

7. Steve Austin Vs The Rock Vs Triple H (Survivor Series 1999)

As you can see by the picture about, this match was originally scheduled to take place and the WWF even advertised it on television and on the pay-per-view itself. What fan wasn't dying to see the WWF's three premier performers square off at the same time in a pay-per-view environment with the WWF Title on the line? Midway through the show a video aired which showed Austin (actually a stunt double) being run down in the parking lot and it was announced that he would not be able to compete in the match as scheduled. The WWF had known for weeks that Austin wouldn't be able to compete since he needed to have major neck surgery, but they decided to advertise him anyway. A spot in the match was up for grabs and logic dictated that it would be filled by Test, who was fresh off his wedding humiliation at the hands of the dastardly Triple H. The Big Show got the nod instead and won the title in a boring brawl. A classic example of bait-and-switch. Thankfully WWE doesn't do this much these days.
