12 Huge WWE Dream Matches That Were Supposed To Happen But Didn’t
6. Eddie Guerrero Vs Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania 22)
There are few matches that sound as good on paper as Eddie Guerrero versus Shawn Michaels. They're two of the most gifted performers of all time and both sit firmly atop the WWE Hall of Fame. Despite being in WWE together from 2002-2005 the two never squared off in the ring. They were always on different brands and were occupied with other feuds. Shawn was always a level above Eddie in terms of status but by 2005 Guerrero had established himself as a versatile main eventer, capable of wrestling any style or size of opponent and he could play both babyface or heel very effectively. The two were tentatively scheduled to clash at WrestleMania 22 in 2006. According to former WWE writer Court Bauer, the idea had been pitched to Vince by Bruce Pritchard and Vince reportedly loved the idea. They were going to build it by showing how their careers had paralleled. Eddie was going to be the heel (naturally) and Michaels the face. It would have been a classic match, no doubt, but Eddie tragically died on November 13th and we never got to see it.
