12 MMA Fighters Who Could Save WWE

9. Frank Mir

The ex-bouncer for Spearmint Rhino is a former UFC world heavyweight champion at 6 foot 3 and 260 pounds, and holds the record for most victories and submission wins in the UFC heavyweight division. Like Quinton Jackson, Francisco Santos Mir III was considered to be past his best until his recent comeback€ only a month ago, Mir scored an upset first round victory by knockout against the ranked number 8 heavyweight in the world, Antonio Silva at UFC Fight Night 61. Now, at 35 years old he can€™t realistically compete at that level in UFC for too much longer€ but he€™s expressed an interest in working for WWE. Handy for a career in pro wrestling, Mir is a good-looking guy, rocking a preppie/skater look €“ and has the gift of the gab, with a reputation for trash talk. Even better, he has history with Brock Lesnar. Mir handed Lesnar his first loss in his first ever fight in UFC, but was soundly thrashed by him in their much-feted rematch. Scuttlebutt (like gossip with a good ground game) says that Mir may be a little obsessed with Lesnar, and keen on the idea of another rematch. The Beast himself considers the matter settled: he doesn€™t believe that Mir was ever really in his league, and has nothing but contempt for him. With Lesnar having abandoned his MMA career in favour of the WWE, that rubber match isn't likely to happen now... all of which is the stuff that legendary pro wrestling feuds are made of. Imagine Frank Mir signing with WWE and interrupting a Heyman promo on RAW because "you wouldn't come to me. I had to come to you." Let's not forget that in 2011 at UFC 140, Frank Mir did in a real fight what Lesnar's only ever kayfabed: he broke Antonio Nogueira's arm with the kimura lock. Mir may not have much of a window left to try pro wrestling at his age, but should he go for it and prove to have talent, then this possibility has serious potential.
