5. Kevin Nash As Oz
Kevin Nash is a former world champion in WCW and WWE, a founding member of the NWO, and one of the most recognizable faces from wrestling's biggest moment in pop culture. Be it as 'Big Daddy Cool' Diesel or with Scott Hall as part of The Outsiders, he has a body of work that can be considered successful by any metric.
He had to work through many bad gimmicks to reach these heights, and none stunk the wrestling world out quite as much as his time as the Wizard of Oz-based Oz back in 1991. Entering with more smoke than Snoop Dogg's living room on April 20th and bathed in luminous green light, Nash wore an equally neon green pointy hat and cloak, while sporting a Gandalf the Grey-style fake beard. It is every bit as bad as this sounds.
Nash would work this gimmick into 1992, before the whole thing was rightly buried and rarely spoken of again. Kev went on to play the slightly more convincing (but no less early-90s) Vinnie Vegas, before eventually making his way to WWE and begin carving a credible legacy for himself as Diesel.
