3. Rey Mysterio

Yes, those two men in the picture are one and the same. The picture on the left shows a young Mysterio during his WCW rookie year in 1996 while the picture on the right shows Mysterio posing for a WWE promo picture nine years later in 2005. The difference is startling.

Rey was one of the most exciting and innovative wrestlers of the '90s. He was like a breath of fresh air in WCW and had many classic matches with the likes of Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, and Psicosis. A lot of that was down to Rey's size: because he was so small he was able to move incredibly quickly and fly through the air with unmatched grace. Throughout his WCW career he slowly began adding more and more muscle mass. He looked a lot more ripped in 1998 than he did in 1996. Rey knew, like everyone else, that wrestling was a very image-conscious business and that he had to looked the part if he wanted more of a push.

Mysterio debuted on WWE TV sporting a brand new, much larger physique. Rey was unusually massive for a man of his size, although he has denied ever taking steroids. He may have denied it but he was also of those named in the 19 March 19 SI article. After the announcement of the Wellness Policy, Rey's physique softened and he took to wearing a vest to conceal his torso.
