12 Most Memorable WrestleMania Returns Of All Time
10. Mr. Perfect And Roddy Piper - WrestleMania X
WrestleMania X had the big controversy over the number one contender for Yokozunas WWF Championship. Both Lex Luger and Bret Hart had won the Royal Rumble, so President Jack Tunney decided that both men would get a shot at the championship at WrestleMania, and decreed that each title match would have a surprise special guest referee. Lex Luger had the first crack at Yoko, and the guest referee for his title match was Mr. Perfect, who hadnt been seen in the WWF since before Survivor Series the year prior. At this point, he was still a pretty big babyface, so he got a great reaction in Madison Square Garden. It wouldnt stay that way, as an inadvertent shove by Luger forced Perfect to disqualify him for touching an official, a controversial decision to say the least. Nothing ever came of it, as Perfect immediately went on a hiatus after the show. For Brets title match, the guest referee was a bigger surprise, as Roddy Piper made his return after a two-year absence. He counted Yokos shoulders down and raised Brets hand as the new champion. Piper would briefly return to the WWF and got into a feud with Jerry Lawler which culminated at the King of the Ring (and was a strange choice to main event the show), before taking another hiatus. Both men returned to the WWF in late 1995/early 1996.
