3. Training On The Road

WC: When you were on the road competing in the ring yourself, how often did you practice DDP Yoga? DDP: Oh god, six days a week! I mean virtually every day. The days I had TV tapings and PPVs, I€™d get there between 12:00 and 1:00, put my s**t down, grab my mat, grab my headset and I€™d go get an hour and fifteen, maybe an hour and a half workout. And it was intense! I€™d go get something to eat, find out what my match is, if I had any interviews and go get another 45 minutes in. Go take a shower, get ready for the match. Now I€™m in my gear. Go get another half hour, 20 minutes, whatever it is. I know right when I get up to that curtain, I was over 15 minutes before my music ever played, baby. So when I went to that ring, I was pumped up and ready to go. I didn€™t do any weight training on the days we had TV, but I was combining weight training €“ heavy to light with higher reps €“ mixed in with my DDP Yoga positions. WC: Is that something you€™re considering for the future; a sort of hybrid routine where you can incorporate weights as well? DDP: Oh yeah. That€™ll be coming up once the app is up and rolling. I€™ve developed a lot of stuff working on the DDP Yoga App. From weight training to TRX bands and all sorts of stuff, just to change it up and keep it fresh so you€™re doing something different.
